How to stop repeating the past and step into the present.

HOW TO SHIFT FROM THE PAST
"Let go of the past."
We hear this advice all the time. It's easy to say... but far from easy to do.
Yet learning to move beyond the past is essential if we want our future to unfold. The future cannot enter our lives if there is no energetic space for it to take root.
Only the energy of the present moment can truly manifest. Every time we replay a memory, that memory becomes our now. So if my attention remains fixed on the past, how can I expect to experience something new?
Sometimes we struggle to let go because of our beliefs, our perspective, or deeply ingrained thinking patterns. But even when we consciously want to move forward, our energy may still be tied to what happened.
This often means there are emotions that haven't yet been fully processed. Unresolved anger. Grief. Disappointment. Or an endless mental replay of events while trying to understand why they happened.
Sometimes these experiences are karmic. They are lessons our soul came here to face. We can't avoid them—we can only move through them.
Here are a few steps that can help you release the past:
✨ 1. Acknowledge what you feel. Name it. For example: "I felt hurt because..." or "I felt frustrated when..."
✨ 2. Process the emotion. Allow yourself to feel it completely, without judgment. Sometimes professional support is needed. This is exactly what I help my clients do in my sessions—guiding them through the process of emotional healing.
✨ 3. Reframe the experience. Perhaps it happened for a different reason than you first believed. Maybe it wasn't only painful—it was teaching you something about yourself or preparing you for the next chapter of your journey.
✨ 4. Let it go. By now your heart usually feels lighter. You may still feel sadness, but you're no longer trapped by it. You stop waiting for an apology. You realise you don't need to repeat the same experience. You recognise your growth and trust yourself to make better choices.
✨ 5. Live in the present. Almost as if you've lost your memory. See the world through the eyes of a child—curious, open, amazed by life's everyday surprises.
This process works best in this order.
You may try to stay positive and focus on the future, but if emotions remain unprocessed or the lesson hasn't been learned, the past will eventually return.
"Hey, I'm anger... I'm still here."
"Hey, I'm humiliation... I'm still here."
The past will keep knocking until it has been heard.
There is no shortcut. The sooner we make peace with the past, the sooner it can finally leave us.
As my teacher often says:
"Life always brings us what still needs to be healed." 🤍
